I have made it to the Czech Republic! Luckily there is internet in our dorm rooms and it seems to work pretty well. So, I left Phoenix...yesterday? At 7:25pm, the flight to London was 9 and a half hours, I was surprised, I was able to sleep through most of it. When I got on the plane, I was graced with the presence of a sassy British lady who was telling people to turn off their electronic devices and mobiles. I also sat next to a lovely couple from Arizona, we talked a bit about London. Unfortunately their was a small child, probably less than a year old, who cried almost the entire time. I feel bad for the mom who was standing and bouncing the kid up and down...but if that doesn't work for the first 10 minutes, maybe it's time to try something else? Any who, we were served dinner, which consisted of cheese tortellini in a red sauce, a small salad, a cold roll with butter, and a piece of cheesecake. I ate while watching The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel; good movie, I recommend it. Then I slept for most of the flight and woke up to breakfast! This is where things start to go bad. I ate a bit of the "orange cranberry breakfast pastry" which included egg and milk in the ingredients, followed by a strawberry drinkable yogurt, then some English Breakfast Tea. This delightful combination brought me to my first use of the ever-so-convenient barf bags! The sassy British lady asked if I was alright when we landed. Never better.
When we landed, I grabbed my stuff and ran to the tram, to the bus, from terminal 5 to 3, through security and then sat around for over an hour. London to Prague was about a 2 hour flight, again, there were more sassy British people and obnoxious children.
Our dorms are great, 4 people share a bathroom and kitchen. Now I am off to explore (hopefully by myself or with my roommate and not a giant group that seems to be forming, because let's be honest, I'm rather anti-social and would like to look as un-American as possible). I'll try to post pictures later! (added 6/3)
